In many industries bunds are widely used to act as secondary containment vessels to protect against primary tank failure. In recent years, it has become mandatory for most oil and gas storage facilities to include a bund or other type of secondary containment vessel. Bund walls are normally constructed from brick or block which are solid but can allow oil and water to permeate into the porous structure.
While epoxies are often chosen to line these structures, they are not ideal choices if the bund is exposed to direct sunlight or contains chemicals that are incompatible with epoxy. LINE-X, on the other hand, does not deteriorate in sunlight and is resistant mto most common chemicals. For this mreason, LINE-X pure polyurea coating XS-350 was chosen to protect the mbund.
Before application the bund was drained of all fluids and any existing penetrated gas oil was drawn out of mthe block work.
The bund was completely sealed and provided a chemical resistant barrier between the gas oil and the existing block work.
